Window on the World
An 85m2 apartment, very partitioned, very dark despite the terrace and numerous openings! The client wanted an open space that was sheer yet warm, with a strong personality. Spaces had to blend together while retaining their functionality. Africa had to be part of everyday life, while leaving room for Art Deco and Asian inspirations brought back from the stages of life. So we mixed materials, textures and colors for a very personal result.
The original volume was completely opened up and rethought. The main objective was to bring light into every living space, and we even recuperated light from the upper floor by drilling a straight staircase to link the office to the rest of the house.
An entrance area as a buffer between inside and outside, as found in Asian culture. The kitchen is central, with a large island as a link between the preparation area and the dining room, which opens onto the terrace, an extension of the living space in a city where we profile the outdoors 9 months a year! We've also brought the outdoors in with a host of exotic plants that add greens, purify and humidify the air!
A large master suite with a large dressing room and a small but cosy and practical bathroom. Each room has its own soft, serene yet charismatic ambience, with accents of the past and present.
